Although he has spent more than a decade serving his dedicated audience as a chef at Delaware Provision Company, Inc., Billy Hayes Jr. is no stranger to the culinary arts industry. The company is a family-owned business which became successful due to the production of his aunt’s homemade sausage.
In 2000, Mr. Hayes turned Delaware Provision Company, Inc. from a wholesale supplier into a full-service catering company. His wide array of experience in culinary arts prepared him for his current role as owner of the business, a position that he has maintained since September of 2011; he has worked in the family business for more than 15 years, and his extensive training allows him to thrive as head of the company. He earned an Associate Degree in Food Service Management and Culinary Arts at Delaware Technical & Community College. Mr. Hayes also graduated Magna Cum Laude from Delaware Technical & Community College with an Associate Degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management. He is a member of the First State Chefs Association and the American Culinary Federation.
For the outstanding work that Delaware Provision Company, Inc. has produced, several features have been written about the establishment, including a piece titled “Delaware Provision Hits its ‘Crazy’ Time,” in The News Journal. His exceptional handmade sausages garnered the company a feature called “Sausages are a Link into the Past: Meat Merchants Have the Polish Touch if Not the Polish Heritage” in the same publication.
